I don't think Quirky thought it was funny though... now he has a criminal record....
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
the title may have lured you here but since it is summertime i am just curious how many people here have yards they have to take care of?
if so, how big of a yard do you have?
what do you use to mow your yard?

It gives me that time to think and yeah, it's a guy thing, drink and drive.
That reminds me of a neighbor I used to have. He had a riding lawn mower and would take a cooler with him when he mowed. He drank beer after beer after beer. The more he drank, the worse his mowing became.
Anyway, one day I heard "Yeehaws!" and "Whoooop!" coming from his place. He had driven his mower into the street and was driving it all around and waving his ball cap in the air.
He passed by one woman's place. She was out weeding her flower beds. He yelled; "Hey baby! Show me yer tits!"
Soon after, the cops were called. By who, I'm not sure. They would have just let him off if he had gone back home and called it a day, but he got lippy with them and splashed beer on one of them so they ran him in.
Well, I thought it was amusing at the time.
i look back and think of how mindless, boring and dumb it all was.
.
i think of having to sit at mind numbing meetings, bored to tears, making believe i was enjoying the fine spiritual banquet.. i think of how we used to drive around in "service" looking for nothing to do----just so that we could put our time in---hoping that no one was home.. everyone had to conform to direction and whims of elders or the society.. i am soooooooooo glad i'm out!.
Or, as in Jeremy C's thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/12/159650/1.ashx (The WT society as a toxic parent), you suggested (or at least seemed to suggest) that use of guilt could also be seen as "inspiration."
Uh........no. Guilt is a negative emotional state. It is only a useful negative emotion when it is used to correct a selfish person's willful neglegence or error. Guilt as a motivator, or "inspiration" is a destructive and counterproductive tactic.
As in, the WT society uses guilt on a member(s) who are already trying their hardest to be a "good" JW. It's never enough though. The WT uses guilt to make the individual(s) feel worthless, lazy, and not good enough. They love to use "experiences" to do this. "Look at brother so-and-so. Why, he is a parapallegic but he still is a full time pioneer! You are in good health, why can't you do at least the same as brother so-and-so?" They do this without taking into account an individual's circumstances. The person may be supporting a family. They may have to work full time to provide health insurance for their family. So, the WT's use of the negative emotional state of guilt will have a destructive effect. They'll run themselves into the ground trying to do more, more, more when they're already doing all they can. If they fall short (and they will), they'll beat themselves up over it.
Guilt as inspiration?
Please.
rick fearon calls the watchtower concerning the tennis superstars venus and serena williams in this two part youtube video.. http://www.youtube.com/araretreat.
You know, it actually wouldn't surprise me if the brother didn't know anything about the Williams sisters. I mean, Prince supposedly is a JW now and you don't hear much about that.
I just remember when he first announced it along with the statement that he was going to clean up some of his songs. After that, not much more was said.
At any rate, 'no comment' stances are common with the bOrg.
my peer group (post-1975 born-in jws) seems to approach the jw religion in a different manner than earlier generations.
now, these folks still believe the wts is "the truth" and if you say anything that sounds "apostate" they start freaking out.
but, make no mistake, these jws are not your parents' witnesses.
I was born in 1970 and remember the 1975 fiasco, but I suppose I am considered one of the older generation you are referring to.
When we were teenagers, we did pretty much everything you talked about. Maybe the only difference between us and kids born post 1975, is we had to be ultra-secretive about everything and lead the proverbial "double life."
We listened to rock music but had to hide our tapes and records really well. Hahahaha our parents were so horrified at Madonna showing 3 inches of belly. They were convinced that Ozzy Osbourne was a devil worshiper.
We snuck into R rated movies through the side entrances.
Stuff like that.

I'm thinking he is at the crossroads. You know, where you are no longer associated, but a certain part of you still thinks it is "the truth."
However, if he would kindly quit the condescending bullshit towards people, that would be great.
a friend of mine confronted me with this :.
adam : a perfect man - with a free-will - disobeyed god, was punished with .
death, no appeal, no attenuating circumstances and the sentence.
If you go by biblical mythology, then yes, it was very unfair that because of 2 people under the influence of a much more powerful being, the entire race of humans were cursed.
Or........
It is all a big fairy tale made up by primitive people to explain life.
Which is more logical?

The only thing more monotonous is watching paint dry. And even there I'm leaning towards the JW life as the more monotonous of the two.
please tell me there are some other metal fans in here besides me!
some of you mentioned receiving flack from the elders because you listen to rap, but surely there has got to be some other rock n' roll and metal fans in here.
i still remember the flack i got for listening to 80's music, classic rock n' roll (loved jethro tull, doors, pink floyd, and so on), and worst of all.....heavy metal!
Well, at any rate, here is the link.
